Winter Is Upon Us—-We Hope!
Well hopefully everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and your planning for the Holiday Season is well under way. Here at the resort we have had a little quiet time since the last weekend of October when we pretty much close until the start of our winter season on December 26. Some of us did slip away for a bit of R&R during the fall with John & Vicki taking their annual trip to Sanibel Island, Florida, and Tom & Jennie spending a week with Jennie’s sister and brother-in law in Branson, Missouri, and even Dave managed to get a South Dakota hunting trip in; but still things plug along getting ready for our upcoming winter season. During this time of the year we go through every unit and do the deep cleaning, maintenance, carpet cleaning and even some painting, plus the pool area always has work to be done…. getting ready for the next season never really ends. Of course, as we get ready for the winter season, we also must get that winter feeling going, which means lights on the sign, lamp posts, trees and bushes, to offer some light to those enjoying the outdoors (it gets dark around here)! Just this week we will begin the process of getting the pond ready for the ice-skating season and to add to that a little bit, we have added a campfire area next to the rink and will even make sure a fire is going on Friday and Saturday evenings this winter. Mark had prepped all the ski trails, which means trimming brush and cutting trees, mowing, and of course, getting all the signs up for both ski and snowmobile trails. We are also making a few improvements to our sledding hill this year, not necessarily world competition quality of course, but very nice. What we will need now is for Mother Nature to share some snow with us and we will be ready, especially since the early cold has put a decent freeze on the lakes and our skating pond. We also want to invite you up to spend a weekend with us and see how much fun winter can be, not just at Kavanaugh’s, but in the entire Brainerd Lakes and Nisswa area. So, to kick off what will be the start of our 50th Year at Kavanaugh’s, we have done our best winter special ever! Best of all it includes all of winter from December 26 until April 1, 2019…. even New Year’s and President’s weeks!!! Come on up and stay in any unit and pay 1-night at our regular winter weekend rate and stay up to an additional 3-nights at either $99 per night in our 2- & 3-bedroom units or $79 per night in our smaller units!! This really is a great deal, so bring your sweetie up for a quiet and romantic getaway to relax by the fire, call up a group of friends for a fun weekend away, maybe let the kids tag along or perhaps you’re coming up for a Brainerd Lakes Area Hockey or Basketball Tourney and need a spot for the team to stay. Many of you know that Kavanaugh’s isn’t a big resort with dozens of things happening, in fact, it’s a quiet and relaxing place and sometimes that is what a person needs. We do hope to see you soon and we certainly will be thinking of all our many friends during the Holiday Season and wish each of you a very blessed and joyful time with friends and family.
