It has been a snowy winter and we also have had to deal with more ice on the drives, sidewalks and roads than usually, but things are slowly starting to improve.  While the winter snow conditions gave us some of our best snowmobiling we’ve had in a long time the fact that the freeze on the lakes was slow going didn’t allow it to really kick in right away.  The February sun has definitely warmed things a bit and of course as we move towards March the thoughts of Spring and of course, the many projects start to come to mind.  Spring can be a lot of fun around the area, usually starting with some great St. Patrick’s Day celebrations (check out Crosslake)  https://business.crosslake.com/events/details/2020-st-patrick-s-parade-46th-parade-celebration-in-crosslake-102942, golf courses opening (who will be first?) and then of course, fishing opener.  But spring is also one of our busiest times around the resort because we never really know how much time we will have to complete all the tasks to get the place ready for summer…..since Mother Nature has a fare shake in that!!  Every spring we have painting projects to complete, outdoor unit maintenance, cleaning up all the lawns after winter, getting around 80 flats of flowers planted, and of course a little thing like getting 100+ dock sections in the water!!  The drabness of March starts to give way to April and May and it is always fun to see things start to green up, leaves come out, and mostly, see that ice melt away to see that beautiful open lake once again.  While the Brainerd Lakes Area and Nisswa are much more busy now year-round it is still fun to see the warm weather bring people back to the lake to enjoy this amazing area.  If you are looking for that quick vacation getaway before the crowds of summer start to roll in then make sure to always check out our specials at www.kavanaughs.com  Come on up in the quieter time to enjoy spring golf, walking and biking and wonderful shopping and dining around the area…oh, and don’t forget to swing by a couple of local breweries like www.roundhousebrew.com or www.jackpinebrewery.com to enjoy some amazing local brews (perhaps a Britt Pub Ale or some Crow Wing Cream Ale).   It’s also a great time to shop, and make sure to not miss Christmas Point (www.christmaspoint.com) for some unique items and a great lunch.  No matter when you come, the Brainerd Lakes Area is tough to beat,  We certainly hope to see you on that trip to the lakes area right here at Kavanaugh’s Sylvan Lake Resort!!
