Summer is still in full swing and what a wonderful summer it has been! When August starts to get close, well, it starts to become a time to think about a great fall getaway at Kavanaugh’s. Fall is amazing in the Brainerd/Nisswa Lakes area, with lake temperatures (which today sit at an incredibly warm 83 degrees) staying very swimmable into mid to late September and great pontoon rides right up until the beginning of October. Fall golf is always a hit and with over 150 holes of golf withing five miles, including top 50 courses like the Legacy at Cragun’s, the Classic at Madden’s and the incredibly unique Gravel Pit Course, well, golf is never in short supply. Walking and biking trails leave our resort and connect to miles of beautiful, paved trails and go through some of the best fall colors you will see. If relaxing in the pool is your thing, our outdoor pool is open until about September 20 with our indoor pool and hot tub open all year long for you relaxing pleasure. Shopping in the lakes area is always a joy with great places like Christmas Point in Baxter, and many wonderful stores in Nisswa and Pequot Lakes or even a little further afield in Crosby. Speaking of Crosby, if you are a Mountain Biker, then make your way to the great trails in the Crosby area. Dining abounds in the lakes area with a few of our favorites being the Classic at Madden’s, Ernie’s on Gull, Bar Harbor, and Mainstreet Ale House. Come early October the fall colors can be fabulous, and a drive-up county road 77 can be awe inspiring. Also, remember the Nisswa Fall Festival on the third weekend of September (and take in some amazing ribs as 25 competitors vie for the best BBQ).
