The 2026 season has now really drawn to a close. Our fall season is now complete, and we enter a couple of months without many people around the resort (we always have a few owners and long-term guests around). For us, the end of the season is always bittersweet as we say goodbye to our final guests, look forward to a bit of rest, but we also find it a challenge to wind down after many months of go, go, go! We of course will look forward to cranking things up again December 28, as we start the winter season. We also hope that many of you might consider a quiet winter getaway here at Kavanaugh’s and maybe enjoy some of the many activities that the Brainerd Lakes Area and Nisswa have to offer, especially some of the great events in Nisswa. Especially take note of two really big events we have going on in the area in 2027. Of course, we must start with the world’s largest ice-fishing competition, the Brainerd Jaycees Ice Fishing Extravaganza on Saturday, February 6 at Hole-in-the-Day Bay. Second, we are really excited that Brainerd is this year’s host for Hockey Day Minnesota, January 26-30. While every winter weekend is a great time to enjoy Kavanaugh’s, we especially are happy to be a base for these two great events! We invite you to come on up to Kavanaugh’s and enjoy our indoor pool, our large natural ice rink, cross-country ski trails, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, campfires, and all the area have to offer, including Mount Ski Gull. If we don’t see you this winter or spring, well, then we certainly look forward to welcoming you back for a great 2027 Summer Season and our 58th year of helping families make great memories on beautiful Sylvan Lake.
